Global Agriculture & Food Security Program (GASFP)

Program Info

Description:
The Global Agricultural and Food Security Program (GAFSP) is a multilateral fund supporting food producers from marginalized countries established by G20 leaders in 2009. It’s a learning space for stakeholders among the governments, civil society, UN, food and agriculture agencies, and development banks, ensuring the inclusion of smallholder producers’ organizations in national policies.

GASFP places the smallholder farmers at the centre of food security reduction and climate change adaptation through grant-based funding mechanisms. Through inclusive decision-making and financing structures and models, it provides transformative food systems and sustainable approaches, including agroecology.

GASFP is a World Bank-funded initiative led by ActionAid International with consortium members from Eastern and Southern Africa Small-Scale Farmers Forum (ESAFF), AsiaDHRRA, and Coordination pour des Actions en Santé et en Développement d’Haïti (COSADH). The partnership reviews and documents lessons and stories of grant-funded projects and explores how to advance the investment in transformative sustainable agri-food systems, supporting women and youth, and addressing climate change.
