OMFAS is a coalition of fifty-two (52) fisherfolks associations in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay in the Philippines, it was founded on August 16, 2013 to address mangrove deforestation and illegal fishing, affecting the economic conditions fishers in the province. It has evolved from KGMC or the Kapunungan sa mga Gagmay’ng Mangingisda sa Concepcion (Association of Small Fishers in Concepcion) which was organized through the IFAD funded (Western Mindanao Community Initiative Project) WMCIP in the early 2000. COMFAS is a farmer fishers organization supported by AsiaDHRRA under its Farmers Fighting Poverty program funded by EU and IFAD thru AgriCORD.

This is a story of a young woman farmer recovering from the onslaught of Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in Eastern Samar, Philippines.

The Post Yolanda Fund for Local Initiatives aims to ensure that local organizations and communities affected by disaster are able to directly participate in and benefit from a range of post-disaster rehabilitation activities through direct financial and technical assistance. It also aims to optimize the mobilization of organized local communities and local resources, together with other development players, towards a more sustainable path of livelihood and farm rebuilding.

The Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Asia (AsiaDHRRA)
is a regional partnership of eleven social development networks and organisations in eleven Asian nations that envisions Asian rural communities that are just, free, prosperous, living in peace and working in solidarity towards self-reliance. Tracing its history from the founding workshop on the development of human resources in rural areas in 1974 in Swanganiwas, Thailand, the DHRRA network’s mission is to be an effective promoter and catalyst of partnership relations, facilitator of human resource development processes in the rural areas and mobilizer of expertise and opportunities for the strengthening of solidarity and kinship among Asian rural communities. It is dedicated to the empowerment of farmers in the Asian region.
