The Lao Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas Association (LaoDHRRA), AsiaDHRRA’s member network, joined several Lao Civil Society Organization Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (Lao CSO FLEGT) members for a consultation meeting on the implementation of the EU Regulation on Deforestation and Forest Degradation-Free (EUDR) products on 8 May 2025 in Vientiane, Lao PDR.

The EUDR program advocates reducing the risk of generating products and supplies linked to deforestation and forest degradation, which are exported to the EU market as the demand for legal and deforestation-free trade goods and products has increased.  Generally, seven (7) goods/products are imported and exported to the EU market, namely cattle, soybeans, timber, coffee, rubber, cocoa, and palm oil.  Regulating the production of these crops will help reduce deforestation and forest degradation, including minimizing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and biodiversity loss.

The project is supported by the Citizen Engagement for Good Governance, Accountability and Rule of Law CEGGA II Programme, funded by Switzerland, Germany, and the European Union, and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
