AgriCord, in coordination with its agri-agency partner in Canada, UPA Développement International (UPADI), hosted a General Assembly in Bromont, Canada, from 12 to 16 May 2025. Joined by AsiaDHRRA’s Secretary-General, Marlene Ramirez, AgriCord’s agri-agency representatives, and Farmers’ Organizations (FO), the gathering has served the alliance’s commitment to participatory governance and collaborative decision-making to strengthen solidarity and shared leadership in the network. The meeting has engendered AgriCord’s stakeholders to shape the work’s strategic directions, supporting farmers’ organizations worldwide by highlighting innovative and locally rooted solutions.

In addition, the Programme Commission dialogue was organized to provide guidance and expert insights on the operational agenda, focusing on discussions on global challenges and exploring future cooperation between farmers from the global north and south. The consequences of agricultural solidarity due to geopolitical changes in the international landscapes were also examined during the dialogue, including FOs’ response to inequality and climate change while remaining economically viable at the farm level.
