AsiaDHRRA participated in the Regional Lao facilitated Initiative on Agroecology (LICA) Workshop on Agroecology Transitions: From Plans to Implementation on July 12, 2025, Tangeran, Selatan, Indonesia. Ms. Marlene Ramirez, Secretary-General, delivered a presentation on “Translating policy to action: Lessons from the ASEAN Master Plan on Rural Development and recommendations for LICA” during the event that aims to support the strengthening of the implementation of agroecology policy guidelines in the region.
Additionally, the event promoted knowledge exchange based on the country’s experiences with policies, institutional, and technical practices regarding agroecology transitions, defined priorities and pathways, and reinforced the role of LICA as a focal group within the ASEAN.
The event was organized by LICA through the leadership of the Department of Agricultural Land Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Lao PDR (DaLaM) in and in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat — and partnership with Agroecology and Safe Food System Transitions (ASSET) project, the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
