Secretary Generals AsiaDHRRA’s Marlene Ramirez and Asian Farmers’ Association’s (AFA) Esther Petunia attended and participated at the 11th Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) organized by UNESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand, on 20-23 February 2024.

The event was also an opportune time for a courtesy visit to meet the newly designated family farming (UNDFF) and agroecology officers of the Food and Agriculture Organization—Asia-Pacific regional office (FAO-RAP) and briefly discuss priority work related to thematic interests. The meeting similarly highlighted the preparation of the upcoming National consultations on Agroecology in the ASEAN region.

The APFSD is an inclusive forum to follow up and review the regional progress of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 agenda, convening United Nations agencies, member states, civil society organisations, international organisations, and other stakeholders.  The event supports the countries in Asia-Pacific by showing the latest regional trends, best practices, and lessons learned and empowers the efforts to achieve the targeted 17 SDGs by 2030.  Reflections from the platform will be scaled up to inform the 2024 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), which will review the SDGs at the global level.
