AsiaDHRRA’s Senior Program Manager, Mr. Cezar Belangel, visited The Coalition of Municipal Fisherfolk Associations (COMFAS) at Zamboanga Sibugay on 13-17 November 2023 as part of updating the Farmers’ Organization for Asia (FO4A) program on development progress. A focus group discussion (FGD) was conducted to review the accomplishments, challenges faced, and ways forward to 2024. Likewise, the meeting reflected the sector’s situation, gathered collective opinion on the project’s impact, identified recommendations, and was participated by the management team, seaweed producers, oyster producers, and the youth and women sectors.
The mission also served as a favorable time to meet with the organization’s board members and discuss matters relating to the sector’s operation, challenges encountered, reflections, and feedback that needed to be resolved. Lastly, Mr. Belangel emphasized the importance of monitoring and evaluation (M&E), performance, and financial reporting in decision-making as crucial roles for board members.
