AsiaDHRRA, in collaboration with the Community Organizers Multiversity – CO Multiversity, Kaanib Foundation, Inc., and Phildhrra-Mindanao, launched the RISE-UP (Resilience Inclusion Sustainability Empowerment Unity Progress) project on 17 April 2024 at Barangay Mankila, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.  The event was attended by farmers’ organisations from Bukidnon and Maguindano (young youth, rural women, farmers), local and international NGOs (Child Fund), mayors from the local government units, namely from Kapalong and Asuncion, and various government agencies.

The project aims to eliminate child labor through strong rural people’s organisations (RPO), functional multi-stakeholder mechanisms, and viable agri-enterprises, where the young rural youth are engaged and benefit from the increased incomes of their families and local organizations.

Specifically, it promotes shared understanding, CSO participation, and co-development of policies relating to eliminating child labor (ECL) work through government agencies, local authorities, and private sector engagement.  It also enhances RPOs and local NGOs’ understanding of ECL, policy consultations, program implementation, and proactive monitoring.

Lastly, it establishes small grant facilities for child protection, decent work, economic services, and livelihood projects through local organizations.

The program is funded by the European Union.
