Central Highlands Technical Cooperation in Vietnam

AsiaDHRRA concluded its 3-year Technical Cooperation with the National Institute for Agricultural Planning and Projection (NIAPP) on the Poverty Alleviation Project entitled: Organizing and Building People’s Capacity in the Central Highlands. Despite the constraints faced of a community development project framework used in the context of Vietnam, the local implementing partners in the provinces of Kon Tum and Dak Lak considerably lauded the 3-year cooperation as having positively affected the lives of the poor ethnic minorities in the region.
The Steering Committee had its final meeting last 10 October in Hanoi where the results of the external evaluation conducted by Dr. Irene Norlund of the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies Copenhagen was discussed. The SC also looked into the proposed next phase of the program which CORDAID, agreed in principle, to support. AsiaDHRRA’s Technical Assistance role was likewise reaffirmed by NIAPP and CORDAID for the new cooperation starting 2004.
